Who we are

SemiStructure is an independent specialist publication focused on the structure of the semiconductor industry. We cover companies, manufacturing equipment, materials, devices, production processes, supply chains and industrial policy. SemiStructure is operated by TechMedix Institute, Inc. in Japan.

Our English edition is written for readers outside Japan who need clear context on Japanese companies and the industrial capabilities behind them.

Why we cover Japan

Japan no longer holds the same share of global semiconductor manufacturing that it did at its historical peak, but it remains indispensable in equipment, silicon wafers, photoresists, specialty chemicals, quartz products, precision processing, power semiconductors, sensors and testing. These strengths are distributed across large corporations and highly specialized manufacturers, which can make the ecosystem difficult to understand from outside Japan.

We connect individual companies and technologies to the wider production system so readers can see where Japan creates value, where dependencies exist and why developments in Japan matter worldwide.

Editorial policy

Our editorial work aims to be accurate, independent and useful. Coverage is selected according to its relevance to semiconductor technology, manufacturing, supply chains and the Japanese industrial ecosystem. Commercial relationships do not determine editorial conclusions.

Research methodology

We begin by defining the question, company or technology being examined. We then map the relevant position in the value chain, review current primary materials, compare them with other reliable sources and identify uncertainties or points that require continued monitoring.

Primary sources

We prioritize first-party and authoritative materials, including:

• Company websites, securities filings, annual reports and investor presentations
• Official product information, technical papers and manufacturing disclosures
• Japanese government ministries, agencies, statistics and policy documents
• Stock-exchange filings and other regulated disclosures
• Industry associations, standards organizations and research institutions

Secondary reporting may provide context, but important factual claims should be traced back to an official or authoritative source whenever one is available.

Corrections policy

We welcome corrections from companies, researchers and readers. If you identify an inaccurate fact, outdated figure, broken source or missing qualification, please send the page URL, the specific statement and supporting documentation. Substantive corrections are reviewed against available evidence and incorporated when warranted.
